The Programmes

A choice of exit strategies

In 2003, Newcastle Business School part of Northumbria University joined forces with the Army to offer soldiers from the rank of Corporal upwards the chance to study, part time and online, for the very best in management training.

The programmes are particularly useful in smoothing the transition between Army and civilian life. Although you know you have vast managerial experience in your current role, civilian employers need to see recognised qualifications on paper. We make it easier for you not only to prove that you mean business once you leave, but to acquire additional skills and knowledge you can put to masterful use in the immediate years ahead.

Because of the demands of Army life, flexibility is central to this training. You choose the route; you choose the destination and how long it takes you to get there. We offer two different pathways - Applied Management and Management Development dependent on rank, experience and career goals. Within these pathways is the opportunity to progress to a recognised management degree or the respected Newcastle Business School MBA.

Fast-track exemptions

Although 'on paper' this training can take up to six years to complete, there are many exemptions. Indeed all of the students on our 2005 Applied Management intake were exempted from the first two years of study. This means that many candidates can realistically achieve a recognised management degree or MBA within just four years.
